California Digital Age Assurance Act (AB-1043) Requiring OS-Level Age Verification Takes Effect January 2027

California's AB-1043, signed in October 2025, requires every OS provider including Google (Android) to collect a user's age or date of birth during account setup and provide it to app stores and developers via a real-time API, taking effect January 1, 2027, with penalties of up to $7,500 per intentional violation.
